Fresno Discovery Center links hands-on science with a garden outside
Indoor exhibits and five-and-a-half acres of grounds give families different ways to pursue a question.

Children often carry a question from one setting into another. Something explored through an indoor exhibit may become more interesting beside a pond or plant outside. Fresno Discovery Center combines those settings, giving a family room to follow curiosity without keeping to one type of activity.
General admission includes the indoor Science Center and five-and-a-half-acre grounds at 1944 North Winery Avenue. The visitor page describes hands-on exhibits, live animals, play areas, picnic tables, Walden Pond, the Deutsch Cactus Garden and the Master Gardener-tended Garden of the Sun.
Regular general admission is $8, with children two and younger, members and military visitors or veterans with identification entering free. Advance tickets are not required. The first Saturday of each month has a listed $3 nonmember admission; check the current schedule and any special-event terms before planning around that offer.
Allow a child to investigate one feature rather than insisting on every exhibit. Ask what they noticed and what they would try differently. Outdoors, observe living things without disturbing them and follow staff guidance around interactive areas. A small observation recalled afterward can be a better measure of the visit than the number of stations completed.
